kishor: Section in Congress questioned Prashant Kishor’s dalliance with several parties | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: AICC spokesman Randeep Surjewala, when asked if Prashant Kishor will be part of the ’empowered group’, told reporters, “When the group is constituted, you will know the names of the members. Then, you will also know whether any individual will be on the panel or not.”
A source, however, said, “The empowered group will be announced in a week or so.”
Sonia Gandhi’s meeting, which was held to discuss a party committee’s report on Kishor’s revival plan, was attended by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Ambika Soni, KC Venugopal, Surjewala, Mukul Wasnik, Digvijaya Singh, Jairam Ramesh and P Chidambaram.
While Kishor is highly speculated to join the party, the political strategist’s visit to TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday and the contract signed with TRS by the poll consultancy firm he founded, I-Pac, was a subject of discussion in the party circles.
A section has questioned Kishor’s continuing dalliance with political rivals even as he is engaged in talks with Congress. It has underlined that the contradiction between I-Pac continuing to be a roving agency while Kishor joins Congress will have to be resolved. Though Kishor has repeatedly said that he has snapped his ties with I-Pac, his presence in Hyderabad when the contract was signed with TRS on Sunday has been latched on to by some leaders, and also Congress’s Telangana unit.
On his part, according to a party leader, Kishor has not demanded any position or mandate, but has offered a plan that he believes should be implemented, ranging from restructuring of the organisation to public messaging. Many members believe that since Kishor is a “pushy” player, his role and responsibility will have to be clearly spelt out to avoid any confusion later.
Meanwhile, Congress will hold its session from May 13-15 in Udaipur which will be attended by over 400 leaders.
